Under state and federal drug free workplace programs, the following specifications are included.
Reasons for a test may include:
- Pre-employment
- Reasonable suspicion or "for cause"
- Random (This may involve unannounced and/or non-routine testing, which may be indiscriminately applied to some but not all employees.)

- Post-treatment or rehabilitation
- Amphetamines (speed, meth, ecstasy, crank, etc.)
- Cannabinoids
- Opiates (heroin, morphine, opium, codeine)
- Phencyclidine (P.C.P.)
- Extended tests may screen for:
